Together with Vialis, Bellt has started an intelligent project for the “Schiphol tunnel safety” project
That’s because the tunnel laws have been amended, and Schiphol is also affected by this. At the moment, we are therefore working hard to modernise and automate the tunnels. The objective: modern tunnels where safety comes first, and fast passage in case of incidents and for an easy-to-reach Schiphol.
The Buitenveldert tunnel was built in the 1960s and is due for renovation. There may soon be no longer any two-way traffic in one of the tunnel tubes until another solution can be found. With the Buitenveldert tunnel, buses swap lanes to the south and traffic to the north of it. Crossings before and after the tunnel guide you to the right lane automatically, with intelligent traffic lights ensuring a good traffic flow. The crossings in combination with intelligent IT solutions make the Buitenveldert tunnel into one integrated system. For an average tunnel, there are some 14 million requirements and rules as far as ICT is concerned. Automating installations inside a tunnel is therefore not standard work. We made a start on creating a safe environment.
We focus on intelligent solutions, so that you can drive through smoothly.
